If you’ve been feeling confused about how your stimulus payments will impact your 2020 Tax Return, this post is for you.
Stimulus checks were provided by the government as an advanced tax credit for your 2020 taxes, and you’ll need to know how much you received (or didn’t) when you file your taxes with us!
Here’s how to confirm whether you’ve received the stimulus payments.
Go to the Get My Payment tool from the IRS
- Click on the blue Get My Payment button, then click OK.
- Enter your information. You’ll need your Social Security Number, Date of Birth, Address & Zip Code.
Bring the Results to Your Tax Appointment
Once you’ve entered your information, you’ll be taken to a page that will outline the status of both stimulus checks, whether they were delivered via direct deposit to your bank account or if a check was sent to you, and if so, on what date.
Please print out this page and bring it to your tax appointment with Dave or save it as a PDF and email it to us directly.
As this tool only checks whether you received the credit, when, and how, we recommend confirming the amount in your bank account statements.
If it’s easier, you can also set up an account with the IRS and receive an Account Transcript of your 2020 IRS Tax Account, which can be found by setting up a “Get a Transcript” account HERE.
We know that filing your taxes last year and this year has been more challenging than usual, and we appreciate your decision to work with ITP Taxes LLC to ensure your taxes are in order.
Please know — we’re in this together! We hope this helps, and if you have any questions or concerns, we’re just an email away.
